The issue
Health equity includes people in prison.
Prostate cancer outcomes are shaped by awareness, screening, timely diagnosis, access to specialists, treatment options, and continuity of care. In correctional environments, delays at any point can have devastating consequences.
PRC’s initiative brings attention to these barriers and equips incarcerated men and their families with information to ask informed questions, document concerns, and advocate for appropriate medical attention.

Bring Behind the Bars to your institution.
PRC offers the Behind the Bars Prostate Health Education Course with an accompanying handbook to prisons, jails, reentry organizations, and prison ministries seeking to provide structured prostate-health education.
The course is designed to strengthen awareness, encourage informed conversations about risk and screening, explain the importance of early detection and follow-up care, and help participants understand how to advocate for their health.
This initiative provides health education and advocacy information. It does not replace evaluation, diagnosis, or treatment from a qualified medical professional.
